Our client came to us as a recommendation from a previous customer, she followed our social media for some time and wanted her finished kitchen to look like something out of a magazine. The brief was to create a social space with an island, breakfast bar seating for 4-6 people and to improve on cooling capacity. The original room wasn’t spacious enough to create the island the client desired which led us to remove the wall separating the dining room. To make this possible, as it was a load bearing wall, we enlisted the help of an Architect and Structural Engineer.

The design and layout have completely transformed the way the Patterson Family now live. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, it is practical for everyday use. Although the design is very simple, the colour tones and different textures complement each other perfectly. The tall bank of larder units houses a full height fridge and full height freezer, there is also a hidden coffee area behind the dresser cabinet. The open box unit above the three striking Neff appliances creates detail and the mirror adds depth to the bank of tall units. This whole section has been built in flush with the wall to create a more sleek, seamless look and in turn creates more of a feature of the triple tier Orac Décor cornicing. The sink run of unit’s projects from the tall units to create an L-shape round the island. We kept the sink, dishwasher pull-out bins and Quooker boiling water tap together in this area for easier accessibility. The client opted for Nolte Kansas Oak laminate worktop at the sink with upstand which seamlessly flows into the windowsill. This finish is echoed in the design accents shown as the Breakfast bar and open box unit.

The Client preferred one flat colour on the door finish; Nolte’s Feel door in Sahara. An island was integral to the client brief, so we maximised the island space and gave the client the desired seating space for 4-6 stools. By designing a large island, we also had space to fit a 60cm under counter wine chiller, freeing up more of the client’s fridge space. Nolte’s Matrix Art Handless lighting system was used to create the effect of a floating worktop on the island and sink run. The lighting, which can be changed from cool to warm or dimmed, creates a feature and enhances the overall look of the kitchen. To create contrast, we used Silestone​ Calacatta Gold for the Island worktop. The Grey and Gold tones throughout this worktop complimented the wood and cashmere tones of the kitchen.
